As the abrupt, torrential downpours in the central region subsided, heatwave warnings expanded across most parts of the country, signaling the onset of severe midsummer heat.
The scorching weather, with temperatures in Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang Province, nearly touching 40 degrees Celsius and heat indexes soaring past 35 degrees, is projected to persist alongside overnight tropical nights until the middle of next week.
