경마 관광 붐
오늘 9월 9일 수요일 밤, 해피 밸리에서 경마가 재개된다.
홍콩 경마 클럽은 지난 일요일 샤틴 경마장에서 열린 시즌 개막전이 큰 성공을 거둔 데 이어, 오늘 밤 해피 밸리에서 경마 팬들이 "종을 울리며" 홍콩 도심의 상징적인 경마장인 해피 밸리에서 시즌의 순조로운 시작을 알릴 예정이다.
해피 밸리는 지난 7월 2025-26 시즌 마지막 경마 대회를 개최한 이후 경마를 열지 않았으며, 정부가 세계에 적극적으로 홍보하고 있는 경마의 상징적인 이미지로 다시 돌아온다.
샤틴 경마장이 가장 큰 규모의 경마 대회를 개최하지만, 해피 밸리는 해외 관광객들이 홍콩을 떠올릴 때 생각하는 대표적인 경마장이다. 조명 시설, 비어 가든, 그리고 고층 건물 사이로 펼쳐진 잔디 트랙은 경마를 중국 본토와 해외 관광객을 위한 관광 명소로 만들려는 정부의 노력을 상징하는 곳이 되었다.
2026-27 시즌 첫 경마 대회는 이러한 추세가 지속될 것으로 예상된다. 샤틴 경마장 관중 수는 43,920명으로 작년 개막전보다 1.5% 증가했으며, 관광객 수는 74.3% 이상 급증한 12,218명을 기록했다.
오늘 밤 해피 밸리에서 열리는 시즌 개막전은 '패션 수요일'의 시작을 알립니다. 3주간 진행되는 이 행사는 오늘 밤과 9월 16일, 23일에 걸쳐 비어 가든을 '소셜 런웨이'가 진행된다.
Horse Racing Tourism Boom
Horse racing resumes tonight, Wednesday, September 9, at Happy Valley.
Following the great success of the season opener held at Sha Tin Racecourse last Sunday, the Hong Kong Racing Club plans to signal a smooth start to the season tonight at Happy Valley, an iconic racecourse in downtown Hong Kong, with racing fans "ringing the bell."
Happy Valley has not hosted races since the final race of the 2025-26 season last July, and it is returning as an iconic image of horse racing that the government is actively promoting to the world.
While Sha Tin Racecourse hosts the largest races, Happy Valley is the representative racecourse that comes to mind for international tourists when they think of Hong Kong. With its lighting facilities, beer gardens, and grass tracks stretching between skyscrapers, it has become a symbol of the government's efforts to make horse racing a tourist attraction for both mainland China and overseas visitors.
This trend is expected to continue with the first race of the 2026-27 season. The attendance at Sha Tin Racecourse reached 43,920, a 1.5% increase from last year's season opener, while the number of visitors surged by more than 74.3% to 12,218.
Tonight's season opener at Happy Valley marks the start of 'Fashion Wednesday.' This three-week event will feature a 'Social Runway' at the beer garden tonight, as well as on September 16 and 23.
