불법 취업 단속 2명 체포
이민국(ImmD)과 관광산업청(TIA)은 홍콩에서 관광 가이드 및 사진 촬영 서비스를 제공하는 불법 취업자들을 단속하기 위해 7월 27일, 7월 28일)이틀간 합동 단속 작전을 실시했다. 이 작전에서 불법 취업자로 의심되는 중국 본토 관광객 2명이 체포되었다.
일부 불법 취업자들이 소셜 미디어 플랫폼을 이용해 홍콩에서 관광 가이드 및 사진 촬영 서비스를 광고하는 사례가 발생함에 따라 이민국과 관광산업청은 합동 단속 작전을 시작했다.
단속 요원들은 고객으로 위장하여 용의자들에게 서비스 문의 및 예약을 진행했다. 체포된 불법 취업자들은 각각 22세와 31세 여성으로 체류 조건 위반 혐의이다.
체류 조건을 위반하는 사람은 누구나 범죄를 저지른 것으로 간주된다. 또한, 방문객은 이민국장의 허가 없이 홍콩에서 유급이든 무급이든 취업할 수 없다. 위반자는 기소될 수 있으며, 유죄 판결 시 최대 5만 달러의 벌금과 2년 이하의 징역형에 처해질 수 있다. 방조자 또한 기소 및 처벌 대상이다.
The Immigration Department (ImmD) and the Travel Industry Authority (TIA) conducted a two-day joint operation on July 27 and July 28 targeting illegal workers offering unlicensed tour guide and photography services in Hong Kong. During the operation, two Mainland visitors suspected of violating their conditions of stay were arrested.
Targeting Social Media Promotion: The joint enforcement action was initiated after authorities detected illegal workers using social media platforms to market personal tour-guiding and professional photography packages to visitors in Hong Kong.
Undercover Operation: Officers disguised themselves as prospective clients to inquire about and book services from the suspects. Upon gathering sufficient evidence during the rendezvous, officers arrested two female Mainland visitors aged 22 and 31.
Legal Penalties & Warning:
Under Hong Kong law, visitors are strictly prohibited from taking up any employment—whether paid or unpaid—without prior permission from the Director of Immigration.
Consequences of Non-Compliance:
Offenders face prosecution and, upon conviction, a maximum fine of HK$50,000 and up to two years' imprisonment.
Aiders and abettors are equally liable to prosecution and penalties.
