47세 중국 본토 남성이 63세 여성을 속여 4만 홍콩달러를 갈취한 혐의로 기소되었다. 이 남성은 딸을 사칭한 전화를 걸어 두 번째 현금 요구를 하다 경찰에 적발되었다.
경찰에 따르면, 피해 여성은 지난 화요일(7월 21일) 딸이라고 주장하는 사람으로부터 급히 돈이 필요하다는 전화를 받은 후 경찰에 신고했다. 피해여성은 전화를 받은 사람의 말을 믿고 청사완에 있는 한 남성에게 4만 홍콩달러를 건넸다.
그런데 이후 사기범으로 추정되는 남성이 다시 전화를 걸어 5만 홍콩달러를 추가로 요구했다. 속았다고 생각한 여성은 경찰에 신고했다. 삼수이포 경찰은 당일 오후, 피해자가 청사완에서 두 번째 대금을 지불하려던 순간 47세 중국 본토 남성을 체포했다.
A 47-year-old mainland Chinese visitor has been charged after allegedly swindling HKD 40,000 from a 63-year-old woman by posing as her daughter in an urgent cash plea. The victim handed over the initial sum in Cheung Sha Wan on Tuesday (July 21) after believing the caller’s emergency claims.
Suspecting fraud when the caller demanded an additional HKD 50,000 shortly after, the victim alerted law enforcement. Sham Shui Po district officers staged a targeted operation later that day, apprehending the suspect in Cheung Sha Wan as he attempted to collect the second payment. The suspect faces charges of conspiracy to defraud.
